Free Designer Templates for Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office is a powerhouse suite, and it does of course include templates for the various applications. What it doesn't really have, however, are templates that tie together the different apps within the suite. It looks as though Microsoft may have realized this pitfall, and so they posted six very nice (and free) designer templates that each come in nine different color schemes.

Winners of Google’s Android Developer Challenge Round 1

Back in November when Google released their Android (open handset alliance project) Software Development kit, they announced a $10 million dollar contest at the same time. The whole idea behind the contest was to entice developers to develop applications for Android.

Zoho Now Accepts Google & Yahoo Logins

Zoho took a pretty big leap today, and it will likely pay off in big ways for them. What they decided to do is leverage Google and Yahoo's rapidly growing user base to help attract new users. How so? Instead of having to create a Zoho account new (and existing) users can simply login using their Google or Yahoo credentials.

The folks over at Facebook sure do know how to do things right (most of the time). One of the best things they ever did in terms of helping their growth was to launch Facebook Apps - it's been a HUGE success for them.

Thunderbird 3 Alpha 1 Released (a.k.a. Shredder)

I can't say that I was expecting this today, but I'm happy to report that Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0 Alpha 1 (codenamed Shredder) has been released. This version does of course have tabs, and as seen in the screenshot above you can open new messages in tabs for easy navigation. That's definitely a feature I've been waiting for, but now I wish you could actually compose a message in a new tab as well.

Google Maps Adds Geo-Tagged Photos/Wikipedia Entries

Yesterday as Ryan was pulling up a map of how to get to O'Hare Airport in Chicago for our upcoming trip, he happened to notice a "more" button up at the top of the page. He clicked on it and a menu appeared with the option to enable photos and/or Wikipedia. He turned to me surprised, and asked if that had always been there and he just hadn't noticed or if it was new.
