Win; Mac; Linux A common question that I get asked in emails is whether I know of any free accounting software that is any good. Some people don't want to purchase applications like Quicken because it is way more advanced than what they are looking to do. All they want is a simple way to manage their finances, but at the same time something that offers more features than a basic spreadsheet.

Regex Widget for Mac OS X

Mac only A few months ago we found an awesome online regular expression (regex) utility that was something most programmers could really appreciate. Assuming you have Adobe Air installed you could also download that regex tool onto your computer so that it would also be available offline. At the time I didn't think it could get much more convenient than that, but I was wrong.

XP Deadline Now Extended for Low-Cost Desktops

Without too much hesitation, Microsoft continues to extend the date that XP will be available for the ultra low-cost PC's. First they extended the date in April for low-cost laptops until 2010 because Vista usually requires too many resources to be run on them, but now the life of Windows XP has been extended for low-cost desktop PCs as well.

Flock 2.0 Based on Firefox 3 – Beta Coming Soon

Mozilla is hard at work getting ready for the launch of Firefox 3, and another Release Candidate is scheduled to be available tomorrow. They are still planning for a June launch of the next major milestone, and there is a lot of hype and anticipation surrounding the release. One thing you don't want to forget about is the Flock browser that is based upon Firefox!

Windows Live Writer Gets Even Better…

Now that we've been using our Mac computers for about a month, we can tell you that one of the applications we miss the most is Windows Live Writer. Microsoft has really done a great job with it and they've managed to pack it full of features without slowing it down. The new blogging software we use, while nice, just doesn't match up.
