Firefox 3 Themes: Vista on XP, or XP on Vista

Are you using Windows XP but prefer the Firefox 3 theme for Vista, or vice versa? Unfortunately Mozilla decided that Windows users shouldn't be given the option between the two themes, but it was only a matter of time before someone duplicated them for everyone to use. As you can see above I'm running Windows XP, but Firefox 3 has the Vista theme enabled.

Back in March, Ryan wrote an article questioning whether Microsoft has been losing brand credibility. These days, branding is crucial. Just three years ago, Microsoft was seated an number 11 on the list of top 100 brands, only to move to the 59th seat out of 100 more recently.

Wine 1.0 & CrossOver 7.0 Released Today

It took an astonishing 15 years to complete, but Wine 1.0 has finally been released! Wine, for those of you that don't know, serves as a way to run some Windows applications in Linux without the need for an emulator. The team has done their best to recreate the Dynamic Link Libraries (DLL's) that are used in Windows, and it all had to be done without an ounce of code from Microsoft.

Firefox 3.0 & Opera 9.5 Get Millions of Downloads

In the last week we've seen two major browsers, Firefox (review) and Opera, release huge milestones for their desktop software. Just five days after the release of Opera 9.5 they are reporting that there have been an astounding 4.7 million downloads of the browser, thereby averaging almost a million downloads per day.

Skype 4.0 Beta 1 Released With Focus on Video Calling

It's been an eventful past year for Skype. First they introduced high quality video calling in October, then they surpassed their 10 million simultaneous users milestone , followed by introducing video calling for their Linux version and then reaching their 100 billion minute milestone.

It's been a year and a half since Mozilla shipped Firefox 3 Alpha 1, and what we saw initially wasn't very breathtaking. For this first milestone release Mozilla focused on backend improvements that would, in the long run, make the browser a better competitor in a world that is largely dominated by Internet Explorer.
