Opera Mini Continues to Prosper Around the World

The Opera Mini web browser has been able to breathe new life into mobile browsing, and that can obviously be seen in the numbers. According to Opera in June they served up more than 3.2 billion pages, which is a 9.4% increase over the previous month. The number of unique users, however, dropped slightly, but they attribute that to June having one less day compared to May.

Propeller 2.0 “Props” Stories to the Top

Back last September, Netscape announced they were calling it quits with their "Digg-Clone" social media site and instead were starting something new called Propeller. Essentially Propeller is the Digg-Clone under a new name. They incorporated the typical Netscape orange and green colors into the new logo and called it a day.

Google Walking Directions are Live

A few weeks ago we wrote about a new feature, walking directions, that select people were seeing when using Google Maps. The good news is that Google has apparently unleashed the new feature for anyone that wants to use it, and from what I can tell it works pretty darn good.

Does Apple have a MacBook Touch in the Works?

If there was ever one new product that Apple would need to take their time with to make sure they did it right, it would be a tablet computer. There have been rumors upon rumors that Apple was working on such a thing, but nothing really came of it. Now the rumors are starting to flow again, and this time they have a little more meat to them.

WordPress for iPhone: Ultimate Photo Blogging Tool?

There are a lot of great applications that are coming through Apple's App Store for both the iPhone and iPod Touch, but one of my new favorites would have to be the 100% free WordPress for iPhone.

TechCrunch Dreams-Up a $200 Web Tablet Device

TechCrunch just announced some pretty big plans to design their own web tablet device and their goal is to keep it around two-hundred bucks. It's quite an interesting idea and could be perfect for those who tend to use web-only services and don't need anything other than a web browser to be productive.

CyberNotes: My Favorite Free Flickr Tools

Flickr is a photo sharing service that has around for over four years, and in that time it has grown at an astounding pace. Thousands of images are uploaded to Flickr every minute, and it was just last year that they had over two billion photos uploaded to their site. The good news is that with the increase in popularity also comes an increase in the number of free tools available.

iTunes 7.7 Automatically Installs MobileMe on Windows

Apple apparently likes to do whatever it can to push its applications and services onto as many Windows users as it can. A good example of this is when trying to download QuickTime where you are required to install iTunes as well. Similarly Apple recently pushed Safari onto Windows users as an "update" regardless of whether it was previously installed.

Facebook’s New Interface Simplifies Profiles

When Facebook moved away from their original interface (back when it was "The Facebook") people weren't too happy. Since then it's gotten a few tweaks here and there, and they've added features and of course applications, but the look has generally stayed the same.

OpenDNS Brings in $20K Each Day

OpenDNS is a service that many people swear by, and it's become an integral part of the Internet for hundreds of thousands of users. With it you can filter content, protect against phishing, block adult sites, and even have it correct common typos in URL's. For that reason we've seen businesses and schools alike flocking to OpenDNS as a central way to control the content accessible by its users.

Google Bringing their Services Together in iGoogle

In the past, Google has been criticized for offering so many services yet not really integrating them together. iGoogle is the closest thing they have had to meshing services together by offering users the option to add gadgets including those for Gmail, Google Maps, Google Reader and more.

Stream Videos from Your Phone to the Web with Qik

We like to think of a service called Qik as "live YouTube." It's a video service that allows users to stream live video feed from their mobile phones to the web. Qik launched a private alpha release not too long ago and people like Kevin Rose and Robert Scoble have really helped to create some buzz about it.

CyberNotes: Browsing Files on Mac OS X vs. Vista

Everyday many of us have to open various files on our computers whether they are documents, music, or photo files. It's something we do out of habit without even thinking, so you probably haven't really stopped to think about the process of browsing for files.

Apple App Store: Purchase Once, Use on Multiple Devices

Ashley and I have finally gotten around to purchasing a few games from the App Store for our new iPhones. One thing that we were wondering about was how Apple handled a situation where you bought an app, and were just trying to download it again.

CyberNet Mobile

A few days ago MoFuse decided that it was time for them to unleash their professional accounts for free. Previously grabbing one of these costed $3 per month, and what's great about them is that you can use your own domain. We thought about it for a little while, and then decided this would be a great chance for us to launch our own mobile site. So that's exactly what we did:

CyberNotes: Our Favorite Weekend CyberNotes Articles

Our Weekend CyberNotes Articles originally started out as "Weekend Warrior." We wrote about all kinds of travel sites and things that would apply to what you do on the weekend. Eventually we ran out of ideas for that topic and switched to "Weekend Website" where we feature one site each weekend that's worth checking out. Today's compilation of our favorites will include articles from both themes.
