Foxmarks Coming to Internet Explorer

Foxmarks has rightfully become an outrageously popular Firefox extension. I love it because I'm able to sync/backup my bookmarks with multiple computers. What makes it really nice, however, is that it integrates right into Firefox's bookmark system. That essentially means you won't even have to think about the extension once you've got it setup.

Firefox Extension Moderators Overloaded

You're probably aware of how the Firefox add-on system works by now, but we'll give a quick recap. Over a year ago Mozilla decided that they needed to add a middle-man to the extension publishing process so that they could ensure that only the quality extensions made it onto the add-ons site.

Amazon Video On Demand Launches Into Beta

Yesterday was a big day for Amazon as they began rolling out to beta testers Amazon Video on Demand, a video streaming service. This is the successor to Amazon Unbox, a video on demand service launched by Amazon in 2006. Unbox hasn't become the hit they suspected, partially because of the hassles involved with downloading the movies before being able to watch them.

New Wikipedia Approval System Could Stifle Creativity

One of the beauties of Wikipedia is the simple fact that nearly anybody is able to contribute to the site. They're also criticized for this as well, and some say the practice of allowing open-editing makes Wikipedia susceptible to vandalism. What is Wikipedia to do to find a happy-medium where they can allow open editing of content yet keep the site accurate and free of vandalism?

CyberNotes: Our Favorite Friday CyberNotes Articles

Like our Monday CyberNotes articles that changed themes over time, our Friday articles changed as well. We originally started with "Free for All Fridays" and we focused on finding various services or software that were free for everybody. Eventually we switched and it's now "Fun Friday." With these articles, we try to find something fun or funny that we think our readers will enjoy.

.me Web Domains are Available

Have you been kicking your head around trying to come up with a domain name you can remember? Even though most of the good .com addresses are already taken you shouldn't give up hope. In fact GoDaddy just started selling .me domain addresses, but they will cost you $20 per year (2-year minimum registration required).

VLC 0.9.0 Includes Last.FM Support

VLC is one of the most well-known media players out there, and it's been almost 4 years since they've released a major new version. VLC 0.9.0 is on the horizon, and it packs in 2 years of development... so you can expect some great things. There's just one gotcha: Windows 98/ME and Mac OS X 10.3.9 are no longer supported operating systems.

Apple’s MobileMe Isn’t All It’s Cracked Up To Be

Back in the beginning of June at WWDC, Apple announced that they would be replacing their .Mac service with a new service called MobileMe. They described it as "Exchange for the rest of us" and said users would have push email, contacts and calendars.

Google Docs Gets Impressive Templates Gallery

One of the features that Google Docs has been "missing" to make it a complete online office suite is templates. I've used templates in Microsoft Office on multiple occasions whether it be for a resume, a brochure, or a newsletter, and for some, they are a necessity. Google Docs hasn't offered anything like that until now.

CyberNotes: Our Favorite Thursday CyberNotes Articles

On Thursdays we always try to walk you through how to do something, and over the years we have collected a rather large library of "how to" articles because of this. In fact one of my favorite articles of all-time happens to be a CyberNotes that I wrote for a tutorial. It's not that its a really popular article, but we've received a lot of "thank you's" from the people whom it has helped.

DivShare currently has over 623,000 users despite moving away from their "unlimited" storage and bandwidth model that they once offered. To try and bring some appeal back to the service they have revamped the user dashboard with an interface that is a lot easier on the eyes.

Gmail Finally Stops Adding Contacts Automatically

Google has done a great job of making Gmail an easy-to-use email service, but one thing that has always bothered me is the fact that they automatically add people you email to your contact list.

Live Mesh Open to the Public

Microsoft has opened the doors of its Live Mesh service so that anyone with a Windows Live ID can immediately start using it. It is only available for users in the US, but the Live Mesh team says that this restriction can easily be circumvented by setting your operating system region and language settings to EN-US:
