CyberSearch Publicly Available on Mozilla Add-ons

It's taken a few months, but I'm happy to announce that anyone can install our homegrown CyberSearch extension for Firefox without needing a Mozilla account. Just yesterday our extension got pushed out of the sandbox, and a big thanks goes out to all of the CyberSearch users who took the time to leave a review.

iPhone 2.1 Firmware Now Available…

As promised, today Apple launched the iPhone 2.1 Firmware. They actually surprised us by including details on exactly what it was that they changed with this firmware instead of vaguely saying "bug fixes." This update has been highly anticipated, simply because it is supposed to fix issues with dropped calls, battery life, and accuracy of the 3G signal strength.

High School Student Drops-Out to Play Guitar Hero

This is by no means "news," just an interesting topic of conversation sent in as a tip. Some of you may know a few Guitar Hero addicts or maybe you are one yourself, but do you think it's a little excessive if a high school student drops-out so that he can concentrate more on the game?

Microsoft Launches Ad #2

Last week when Microsoft aired their first Windows ad, a lot of you had lots to say about it. Some of you thought that the commercial simply wasn't funny while others of you thought that despite the fact there was no direct message, at least they were getting the logo out.

Unlikely Partnership: Microsoft and RIM

Who would have expected that RIM, makers of the BlackBerry, would turn to Microsoft, a rival of theirs (Windows Mobile), for a partnership? We didn't expect it, but it happened. Just today the companies announced that Microsoft Live Search would be available on the BlackBerrys sometime this year.

Facebook Users Not Keen on Change

Facebook users are once again showing that they aren't too big on change. With Facebook getting ready to "force" all users to use the new design, there's been some people speaking-up about their dislike for the new design.

Google Docs Gets Dictionary and Table of Contents Features

Previously if you wanted to insert a Table of Contents into your Google Docs document, or look-up the definition of a word, you had to use some JavaScript to make it happen because Google hadn't officially launched the features. Now they have and they are easily available to users.

Store Files on iPhone with App… Free for 2-weeks Only

One thing that really sucks with the iPhone and iPod Touch is that neither of them can be used to store files. When you have that much storage space available to you, being able to store files would be really nice.

Gmail Labs Gets Three More Features

Remember those Gmail Labs features that Google launched back in June? They included features for Gmail like mouse gestures, the option to choose from additional star icons, and more. The great thing about all of these features are that each is opt-in so that only the additional features you want added, will be added to your Gmail account.

Google Reduces Time It Stores Your Data

In the past we have heard some of you express concern over Google's storage of personal data. It's simply part of their business that they store bits of information from their users, but they always pledge to keep that information private. They've changed their privacy policy on several occasions, and once again they have changed it.

Search Old Newspapers Online with Google News Archive

Yesterday Google announced something that will be hard for anybody to find fault with, simply because it is pretty beneficial to the masses. What they are doing is taking the time to team up with various newspaper publishers to get some of the old newspapers scanned in and available online.

Convenient Timing: Microsoft Confirms New Zunes

Perhaps Microsoft was hoping to take a little bit of the spotlight away from Apple (their iPod announcement is coming tomorrow) by confirming the new Zune line-up today? Yes, new Zune's are on the way. Consumers can expect some extra storage space for both the hard drive and flash models.

New Poll: How Much Is Your Monthly Cell Phone Bill?

Today in the news I saw an article that caught my attention. The title read "Family gets $20,000 cell phone bill." I thought to myself, how on earth could someone possibly rack up a $20,000 phone bill, but then once I saw the video that explained it, it was easy to understand.

Microsoft Executes Xbox 360 Price Cuts

We've known for quite some time that Microsoft was preparing to drop the prices of their various Xbox 360 consoles and now it has happened (although only in the U.S.). This comes at a convenient time shortly before the start of the holiday season, and they've managed to get the price down to the "sweet spot" for gaming consoles.

iPhone 3G Graces the Cover of Best Buy Ad Tomorrow

As expected the Best Buy consumer electronics retail chain will start selling the iPhone 3G tomorrow. They are really boasting the reduced cost of the phone with the 8GB model starting at $199 and the 16GB starting at $299. To make this seem like even more of an unbelievable deal they are stating that the regular prices are $599 and $699 respectively.

Did Microsoft Fail with New Windows Ad?

Microsoft has started their $300 million ad campaign that, as previously mentioned, features the talent of Jerry Seinfeld. I saw the ad last night, and there has been a lot of talk about the quality of it this morning. Personally I was expecting it to, at the very least, inadvertently show off some things Vista is capable of doing.

Joost Getting Ready For the Web

It's been a while since we've heard any significant news from Joost. They launched into an invite only beta back in early 2007 and made quite the stir with everybody eager to get their hands on an invite. Since then, not a whole lot has been said. While there was a demand for invites at launch, the masses weren't impressed with the service.
