Do You Remember When…

Do you remember when Twitter was a word that only the tech-savvy crowd have heard of? It was back in March of 2007 that I finally started paying attention to what Twitter was, only because there was so much buzz about it on the blogs I was reading. Between then and now, Twitter has experienced all kinds of growing pains, including outages from traffic overload.

Another New Tab Alternative for Firefox

I still feel like I'm in search of the perfect page that is displayed when I open up a new tab in my browser. I used to be one of those people who always used a blank page for performance reasons, but when I started using Opera more I really started to like having the Speed Dial sites at my fingertip.

AlternativeTo Recommends Other Software

Last week Download Squad dug up a real gem when they found a website called AlternativeTo. This website lists out a lot of really popular applications like Photoshop, Nero, Dreamweaver, and the various Microsoft Office products. Then for each of them it provides alternatives (both free and commercial) that users can choose from.

Automatically Save Files to Specific Folders in Firefox

In Microsoft's case, the next "big thing" is possibly HD. Engadget recently posted some images from an apparent marketing campaign. One of the images clearly includes the new ZuneHD logo, and another gives us a glimpse at what the device looks like.

Automatically Rotate Desktop Wallpapers

We've shown you some tools in the past that lets you automatically rotate your desktop backgrounds (like this one), but the sheer simplicity of Wallpaper Juggler is what makes it so great. Basically what it does is download wallpapers from InterfaceLIFT and WallpaperStock, and you can choose to have it grab only the most popular wallpapers.

RichCopy: Free Robocopy Alternative from Microsoft

At work I use Microsoft's Robocopy command line tool almost everyday for copying files between multiple environments. Digital Inspiration dug up a real gem though, and it's a tool Microsoft recently released called RichCopy. It not only has a nice graphical interface for copying files, but also comes packed with a few handy features.

It's not often that I come across a bookmarklet that I'll use everyday, but in the last few days PageZipper has become an unbelievable tool in my daily arsenal.
