Using Google Calendar Sync Without Your Default Calendar

At work I use Outlook to manage my email and calendar, but I was looking for a way to sync my calendar with Google. It wasn't that long ago that Google decided to release an Outlook syncing tool so that you're able to do exactly what I wanted. Well, almost what I wanted.

Firefox 3.7 and Firefox 4.0 Interface Mockups

Mozilla just wrapped up the Firefox 3.5 release a few weeks ago, but they are already going to town on what they can do for future improvements. When they redesigned Firefox 3.0 I thought the new designs were okay, but they weren't anything that seemed to be revolutionary.

Create Site Shortcuts in Firefox

In Firefox you've always been able to assign a keyword to any bookmark, which would take you to that particular site if you type the keyword in the address bar and press Enter. That's nice and all, but once you get a large number of shortcuts it can be tough to remember them all.

AppHider for Mac Puts Program Shortcuts in Menu Bar

It's not often that I write about Mac apps because I don't find some of them all that interesting, but I came across one that I thought was pretty useful. AppHider is a free program who's goal is to tuck apps away into the Menu Bar. It then lets you assign any keyboard shortcut or AppleScript to the menu options you create.

Browser Comparison: Memory Usage, Speed, Acid 3 Test

Ever since we did a browser comparison test last year there have been a lot of emails and comments asking if we were going to update the article to reflect new releases. I thought about adding in the new browsers as they came out, but decided against it for one reason or another. Instead I thought it would be better to just do a fresh article, and include even more stats than last time.

Timing of Google Chrome Operating System Announcement Questioned

If asked which operating systems were most popular, most of you would list the usual: Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux/Unix. Come the second half of 2010, to that list we will be able to add the Google Chrome Operating System which will be both open source and lightweight.

Microsoft Wisens Up to Windows 7 Cracks?

Over the weekend I decided to download Windows 7 Build 7264, which is the latest build to have been leaked. This was considered to be an RTM escrow build, which meant that this would have been the version that gets shipped given that Microsoft didn't find any show-stopper bugs.

I'm always looking for awesome backup solutions that you won't have to pull your wallet out for, and there's no arguing that there are plenty of free apps out there. One that really caught my attention recently was PureSync. it does all of the common things you'd expect from a backup program such as two-way syncing or a one-way backup.

Using Twitter to Control Your Computer

Looking back at how Twitter has evolved I can't help but be amazed by not only it's popularity, but also the various services it is used for. I've seen ways to track packages using Twitter, add events to your calendar, manage your todo list, check balances on your accounts, and all sorts of other things. It's crazy.
