How to Do Automatic Color Correction On Your Pictures For Free

Windows only If you've ever toyed around with any digital camera for five minutes, you know that the pictures it takes often look different than what you saw in real-life. Common complaints include photos being too bright/dark or having an odd-looking color balance.

Growl Becoming a Must-have App on Windows?

Having bought my first Mac about a year and a half ago one app that I quickly started to love was Growl. It brought a universal notification system to the operating system that any application could make use of, and the cross-program uniformity made the OS experience that much better.

Regular Expression Generator and Tester

I always find myself using regular expressions (a.k.a. regex) in my programming because they are often the best way to parse out bits and pieces from blocks of text. Ever since I discovered the online RegExr that has been my tool of choice, but sometimes it's nice to have a dedicated application. Programs like RegexBuddy are awesome, but aren't free.

Quickly Add Media to iTunes When It’s Not Running

Sometimes, Apple sneaks in new features into their software without ever making a big deal out of it. When iTunes 9 was released, they made it possible to add files to iTunes without even launching the app. The secret to this trick not as far-fetched as you might think...

Access SkyDrive in Windows Explorer

I love the fact that Microsoft gives users a free 25GB of storage for files through SkyDrive, but I think they're able to do that because they don't provide an easy way for people to upload things. That way most people will never come close to hitting their 25GB limit, but that may change with the free SkyDrive Explorer app.

Should We Prefer Metered Bandwidth Over “Unlimited”?

We love unlimited. Everything is better when it's not limited, right? Then what's not to love about unlimited bandwidth? Actually it's bad for us consumers. Here's why.

BackupURL Lets You Archive Websites

I'm sure at one point or another you've wanted to share a link with a friend, but knew that when they went to visit the page that the content would change. Unfortunately you don't have control over when services like the WayBack Machine make archives of a site, and often times the backups available there are at least a year old.

CyberSearch 2.0.2 Released

For those of you using CyberSearch I thought I'd let you know that I just released version 2.0.2 that resolves almost all of the issues users were reporting with Firefox 3.6 Beta 1. The main reason I wanted to let everyone know is that Mozilla hasn't approved CyberSearch 2.0 yet, which means you won't receive an update notification in the browser.

How to Post Long Tweets

Twitter limits users to 140 characters, but sometimes that just isn't enough. Some Twitter applications have started to take advantage of third-party services that let users post longer messages, and then in the tweet it will provide a link to the text. In many ways this defeats the purpose of Twitter, but sometimes you just can't fit what you want to say in a mere 140 characters.
