It’s definitely nice to have the 2GB of RAM, so I don’t think you’re deal was all that bad. And you can never have too much hard drive space.

I’ve been watching the vostro 1000 prices for well over a month ~ just waiting for them to drop.

Then just 2 days ago, I saw they had the vostro 1500 for $549 ($410 off!), so I jumped on it. Its very similar to the 1000 except its got 2gb RAM, an Intel processor, and a 160gb HD.

I kinda wish I had waited just a couple more days, but I still feel like I got a great deal. Beats the hell out of camping out at Best Buy if you ask me.
