Every operating system, no matter what people say, has its own benefits for the people who use it. That is, after all, why people are using it. If someone thought that they were using an inferior operating system then they would surely switch. If one operating system offered everything everybody wanted then why would anyone use a different operating system?

I haven't had a lot of time to spend with a Mac computer so I have no place to say what is great about it...which is why I stick to Windows reviews. ;)

It always amazes me how passionate people are over their computer. There are die-hard Windows fans, and die-hard Mac fans that'll do everything they can do get you to make the switch either way. It reminds me too much of political parties here in the U.S.

I was thoroughly confused the first time I saw a one-button mouse that actually was two separate buttons...but I have to admit on the mighty mouse that the scroll wheel is nice for doing the horizontal scrolling since it is just a ball.

I'll stay away of that world, no, anymore.

That gave me a good laugh! :D I also agree that they are too expensive, but a lot of people claim that the hardware included is superior to most PC's. The only thing that is really nice in my opinion is the aluminum case where Dell's are mostly plastic. Other than that the internal pieces are going to be about the same since they are Intel processors now.

I'm surprised I'm the first to mention the error: last line, "...doing more that giving people a few laughs?" [that] should be [than].

I have used macs a handful of times at the mac store, and I never can really enjoy them. One biggie is the lack of support for tons of apps. Also, I find it hard to operate with a one-buttoned mouse! Now I've seen some that are one button, but if you press to the right side it right-clicks. The problem is that only works about half the time. I find myself holding [ctrl] and clicking. Also, I like having a screen size button as opposed to a full height button, although I guess the mac's full height button could be good with widescreen monitors. Also, gamers will never move to the mac. Although I have to say Macs are improving.

Why did you choose to switch back to Windows out of curiosity? I only ever hear about stories of why people are switching to Macs and never the reverse.

dtanderson wrote:
I would switch if the hardware did not cost so much. If I could buy and install OS/X on my existing computer then I would probably jump all over it.

I have thought about that as well, but there are too many things that I like to do on a PC that hold me back from switching to a Mac...especially with the new Office 2007 it leaves a lot to be desired with the Mac version of Office. Heck, there isn't even an Intel version (universal binary) of Office 2004 available for Macs which.
