The official Grooveshark app hasn’t had much luck staying in the Google Play Store, and even when it has appeared it required a subscription if you wanted to listen to any of the music it had to offer. Another app that streams music from Grooveshark completely free has somehow escaped the wrath of being pulled from the store. That app is Dood’s Music Streamer.
Using the app you can search for and play your favorite music without needing a Grooveshark account. On the flip side you can’t login to your Grooveshark account, which means you’d need to rebuild any playlists you might already have created on the web-based version. The good news is that building the playlists isn’t very difficult since you can save all your queued up songs to a playlist, and within the Search tab you can actually view the most listened to songs on Grooveshark if you’re only after the popular stuff.
Worried about not always having an Internet connection? No problem. Dood’s Music Streamer has an offline option you can enable in the settings. Once you do that you can select a song (or multiple songs) and use the Save to Offline Cache option to have the songs downloaded and stored locally on your device.
Dood’s Music Streamer does have an ad the appears towards the top, though it can be removed for $3 if you want a cleaner interface.
