Speed Test Results

I love to know how fast I actually surf the Internet just to make sure I am getting what I pay for. I just tried out SpeedTest.net after someone had reported it on Digg and I think this is my new favorite test. Of course, it does have the speedometer-like layout but it also has some features I have not found anywhere else.

One of my favorite features is the ability to share your stats with the world by copying and pasting some code. After you perform a test it will have the HTML code that you can copy towards the bottom of the page. The code is for linking to the image of your test results (just like the one I have pictured above).

The domain name is also really easy to remember which makes it easy for me to tell other people about it when I get asked “how am I supposed to know how fast my Internet is?” I’m sure you know plenty of people, just like me, that probably don’t even realize that their Internet service has a speed limit.

  1. Aren’t these all just licensed versions of the Speakeasy test at speakeasy.net/speedtest?

  2. Actually Speakeasy is licensed by [ookla.com] which is actually the creator of SpeedTest.net. The Speakeasy test is pretty much a template that they make…you can find several other sites with the [ookla.com] 1.

If you really want to you can [ookla.com] to put on your site, but it is kinda pricey.

  3. I also like speedtest.net cause it does show true speed on my isp but all the others are about half of what my connection really is [hells-revenge.net]
