The first gen ipod is very good and I have had no problems with it yet. I got it about 2 to 3 years ago and I had an promblem when I didnt charge it for about 1/2 months. When I went to go plug it in, my ipod just couldnt tell if it was charging of not. It would turn on for a minute and shut right back off. I tried keeping it in the computer for a couple of weeks and nothing happened intill i found out that the reason why my ipod wasnt taking any power was because I had to change the battery. Im getting one tommorow and hopefully it will help it!!!!

There is Apple bullshiting people into buying their latest technology. Never had a single issue with my 1st gen Nano, but I did have an issue with a rude dude from Apple. He called me on the phone to sell me some insurance, and became quite agresive when declined. I used to think higher of Apple. I guess I was VERY wrong

I just called AppleCare and they kept trying to blow me off about this recall. I purchased mine on 1/3/06, clearly within the 1st Gen time frame (sept 2005-dec 2006). He said, it's been working for 2.5 years, it's fine, don't worry. I said, all those first gen's been out there 2.5years and recently had problems, so what's your point? He put me on hold and then when he got back, he said, the recall is only relevant to apple Japan and not US, therefore, recall doesn't apply to US customers. Is this correct? Has anyone been successful at receiving a replacement?
