You were probably just lucky and hit the email at the time of sync. It can’t have pushed it, because it doesn’t use push.

From what I’ve read data *is* pushed between the iPhone and the MobileMe website, but not with computers. I even think that the data is pushed to all of your computers, but the problem lies when you change something on a computer and it doesn’t get pushed to MobileMe. So it’s really just the upstream from the computers that isn’t getting pushed.

I’m sure you’re not alone, there will definitely be people upset by this change, especially when you factor in all of the problems MobileMe has already had from day 1.

The reason no one is outraged is because very few people care, and only the people who actually understand the technology get why this is bad false advertising – and in general those who understand the technology don’t use Apple stuff. That fact that I’d have to use iTunes if I got an iPhone puts me off almost as much as the price, so the fact that Apple charge extra for not using iTunes doesn’t come as a surprise.

MobileMe isnt anything like Exchange also because it only supports iPhone – without Outlook and cross-phone support it is very limited.

It does actually support both Windows and Outlook.

Live Mesh is actually just for file syncing though, and in that respect it is similar to MobileMe. But Live Mesh doesn’t do contact/calendar/email syncing.
