If you click on 'permalink', you'll get a link that you can share with friends. It's a great feature for creating and sharing maps, directions, etc. with people, when you're trying to arrange some sort of event. Or just, you know, drawing something mischievous over the house of your nemesis. Cyber voodoo? Hmm.... Actually, the map data gets persisted onto the server (using an anonymous ID).
