Windows 7 Demo Not too Exciting

Last night at the D6 conference both Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer sat down together for an interview. We've got two highlight videos from the conference below, and there were actually some interesting things brought up. What's even more surprising is that there were some jokes being thrown around.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 Beta

When we announced back in March that Photoshop CS4 had been leaked there were (and still are) some skeptics that it's the real deal. The timing of the leak seemed about right since the Adobe Creative Suite is on an 18 to 24 month release cycle, which would place the final release of Adobe CS4 somewhere between October 2008 and April 2009.

Thunderbird 3 Alpha 1 Released (a.k.a. Shredder)

I can't say that I was expecting this today, but I'm happy to report that Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0 Alpha 1 (codenamed Shredder) has been released. This version does of course have tabs, and as seen in the screenshot above you can open new messages in tabs for easy navigation. That's definitely a feature I've been waiting for, but now I wish you could actually compose a message in a new tab as well.

Open Office 2007 Documents in OpenOffice.org 3.0 Beta

There has been a lot of buzz in the last week regarding OpenOffice.org 3.0 Beta. Some people are excited with the new features that it brings to the table, while others are a little disappointed that the interface didn't get much of a facelift. No matter which way you look at it, this will be a huge release since milestones like this only occur once every three years for OpenOffice.org.

It's been a year and a half since Firefox 2 was released to the public, and by the end of May Firefox 3 will have entered the Release Candidate stages. Opera 9.5 Optimizes JavaScript; Beats Firefox 3

Win; Mac; Linux Opera is obviously not content with sitting on the sidelines when it comes to being the fastest browser out there. Back in February Mozilla decided that it was time to optimize it's JavaScript performance, and used a technique called Profile-Guided Optimization (PGO) that gave it a nice boost.

Opera Dragonfly Developer Tools

Opera Dragonfly is here, and as expected it is a new set of tools to help developers create functional websites. It's obvious that the Opera team wanted to develop something to draw developers to their browser, much like how Firebug has become an irreplaceable tool for the developers that use Firefox. The real question is whether Dragonfly is the tool we've been longing for?

CyberNotes: MacBook Pro First Impressions

Last week in our MyFive article titled "Computers We've Owned," we left out a "5th Generation" of computers that we've owned in the past because we hadn't yet purchased them. In the article, we mentioned that we've been looking at different models and manufacturers to see what would be best. We finally made our decision after lots of research, and the purchases were made.

Vista Aero Glass in Firefox 3 (Like IE7)

I was starting to become skeptical as to whether it was possible to have an Aero Glass theme for Firefox much like that of Internet Explorer 7, but there is now proof that it can be done. One top-notch developer took it upon himself to create an extension that would create a fancy eye-catching interface . The result is the Glasser extension.
