If you typically have multiple tabs open at a time in Firefox, and multiple tabs for the same site, you’ll probably like ChromaTabs. ChromaTabs is a Firefox extension which will assign a color to your opened tabs. Essentially you’re color-coding the sites that you visit which makes it quicker and easier to find them in your Tab Bar.
The screenshot below shows what my browser window looked like when I had multiple tabs open:

One of the options that I changed was to “Use Color from Site Icon” which gave my CyberNet tab the orange color, and my Yahoo tab the red color. The default option is to “pick a color unique to site name.” I found it easier to use when I chose the site icon color. To do this, all you have to do is go to Tools>Addons> ChromaTabs Options.

That’s pretty cool – think I saw one of my mates with it the other day, though he also had an extension that made tabs rotate on a cube like XGL in Linux, so the colours could have been from that. Anyway, nice recomendation. My only question is why you had Yahoo up?
I’m guessing she had Yahoo! up for demonstration purposes. And the last I checked that XGL-like extension doesn’t add any color to your tabs. It is simply for the animation effect which I got sick of rather quickly.
I’ve been using this for a long time and I think it’s pretty dang good. What are the best opacity, saturation, and luminosity settings? I have em at defaults and I think they could probably be spiced up a bit…
Looks like a rip-off of [addons.mozilla.org] to me.
exactly
Actually I think it’s an improvement of Colorful Tabs. I’ve replaced it with ChromaTabs.
I may end up taking a look at it just to see.
Chroma tabs initially set colors for tabs based on URL (though, the colors WERE fugly), now you can set colors based on the favicons (thus, the colors won’t be fugly unless the favicons are…and the colors pertain to the site).
Colorfultabs on the other hand JUST NOW started doing colors based on URL, instead of just random colors.
Sure color tabs is older than chroma tabs, but color tabs is actually copying chroma tabs.
But that extension doesn’t choose the color automatically based upon the favicon, does it?
