dynamo, you sound like so many douche mac owners. The reason you can buy hardware for a PC is because you can. And although I do love macs too, you cannot beat a pc for it’s pure versatility, infinite configurations, and VALUE.
And at the above posters, HTPC is FAST becoming the thing to build. It’s cheap, versatile, and WAY more powerful and user friendly than the sh1tty cable dvr.

Johnux, were you born under a rock or something? To make a claim that most mac users don’t ever buy software is absurd. The reason I don’t have to buy a lot of hardware for my mac is because it’s a mac. if you really feel the urge to blow more money on hardware then be my guest and keep using a pc.

I have to agree with the above comment. I thought you did a good job of lining up the features between the too and then voicing your opinion about which makes one superior over the other. I just so happen to have a TV-Tuner card in my pc and I don’t even consider Windows Media Center as an option when I go to tune into something. In my opinion Front Row and Media Center are slow and clunky, but these are the best you can get WITH your computer. But as far as TV tuning being your selling point for MC over FR, I’ve never known someone with a Mac who used a TV-Tuner. You have to remember that most people who own Macs never even buy software for them, let alone add hardware. Macs are simple, all inclusive, and easy to use, that’s why most mac users love them. When it comes to a advanced things, most power users that aren’t JUST into graphics, video, or recording almost 100% of the time go with Windows or Linux.

I certainly have no tuner, had none for the last 20 years of my computing life and am not planning on getting one soon.

As I read your article, I find it VERY disappointing: if I want to read a list of features of each program I can simply go into their websites. I was expecting a comparison, not just reading out loud the features of each and pretty much nothing else…

I would be that 1% of 1% of PC users have such a card in their desktop PC’s. Considering that notebooks now out sell desktops, the number is going to dwindle. I would bet of the people that even have these cards (came with PC) probably 50% or more dont even have them hooked up to a cable or whatever.
