Fun Friday

This week’s Fun Friday is all about couches. They aren’t your ordinary everyday couches, not in the least. You’ll see what I mean…

—Mousepad Couch—

Yes, the entire thing is made up of mouse pads. I’m thinking someone had way too much time on their hands!

This couch is made up of 35 Mac IIfx computers and give customers of an Apple Specialists store in Missouri a place to sit.

—700 Can Couch—

This couch was made up of 700 pop cans in a dorm room at The University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Think it’s comfortable?

  1. I think the mac computer one would be pretty uncomfortable as well…actually they all would probably be pretty uncomfortable, except the mouse pad couch. That would be alright.

  2. I’m with ya there dkong – these definitely don’t fit under the “comfortable” category. :)

  3. Actually the mouse pad one is probably pretty uncomfortable as well. It’s going to be pretty solid, and would more than likely be like sitting on a wood table.

  4. I say its a great use of recycled materials regardless of comfortability. Unfortunately, the operative word here is “use”, I think the only two that look like they could withstand a persons weight are the mousepad and computer couches

  5. If the FedEx couch is built the right way it can easily take up more then one person.
We have some shops here in Germany selling furniture built of corrugated paper and the small chair has no problem with me sitting on it.

    so long herby

  6. The can couch looks like 668 cans to my math.

  7. @SteveyDevey: You are a freak. A wonderful wonderful freak.

  8. I counted 700 cans….and wasted a few minutes of my life doing so….

  9. I second Steve-o’s count…and also wasted some time.

    700 cans! :P

  10. I started to count……but then couldn’t be asked

  11. 698 if googles calculator is tuned in. =)

  12. I broke down the nuber of cans as follows:

    armrests- 2 armrests 2*2*8=64
    backrest- 18*2*3=108
    base- 22*8*3=528

Yes, the total is 700, but this is the best few minutes I ever wasted

Oops the makers already firsted us   Just click on source

  13. Actually a single pop can is able to hold a pretty large amount of weight. Try standing on an empty. It’ll hold you until someone pokes the side.

True, but sitting on a bunch of cans probably wouldn’t be all that comfortable. ;)

  15. I have actually made a soda can couch before to bring to my dorm, although I used 860 cans, it did support weight of me and my friends. It can also be confortable if you glue slight padding on top with crazy glue.
