Oops, I thought I had changed that sentence in the article that said the PowerToy was better. The PowerToy doesn't offer nearly the features that Virtual Dimension does. As far as your problem goes I have never had that happen before so I'm not sure how to help you. I recommend using Virtual Dimension because it has a lot more features and costs the same: FREE! :D

hi, newly registered, enjoying the heck out of your site. have a comment on the virtual desktop apps. i used virtual dimension for a couple weeks and then when i read this article that mistakenly said powertoy was better i switched over to check it out. i like the powertoy better myself but i have one problem a coworker and i stumbled upon - when switching from our 'work' desktop with typically excel / outlook / autocad open over to the 'play' desktop, typically firefox, and back, we lose the toolbar buttons on the excel program and can only get them back with a restart of the app. i've done a search on microsoft and google and haven't found anyone with the same issue. any ideas? besides going back to virtual dimension.

thanks.

That calculator is a gem! The program I launch the most from Start/run is calc.

Now all I need is a similar tool that gives exchange rates - or is there a firefox extension for this?

No problem, I'll add it tomorrow, but it will only be able to show up on individual article pages. Otherwise if you're on the homepage it won't know which article you're trying to bookmark.

I'm always kind of skeptical about installing shells and mods on my PC (mainly because I worry about a performance hit on my low-end PC).

I was going to mention that Taskbar Shuffle here but I had already written a post about it a little while ago. In a few weeks I might do a "part 2" because I have since found several other applications that seem to be handy at making the taskbar more useful.
