So it is a wonderful cultural exchange and a way to make friends and if you are a Business student it will give you a connection and a place to crash while looking for an apartment or they will tell you where you can find a decent one and where to avoid. However, the rating system, much like eBay feedback should be good proof of safety, as well as having confirmed contact information to give to the police in the event of anything going wrong. I've never traveled much, but this certainly sounds interesting - especially if they'd put up two people so you could bring a friend.
