I am doing a mail merge, creating labels for inventory items. My second column in my excel document is called "location" and the characters in this column are either a three digit number, a combination of two numbers and a letter (i.e. 00A), a combination of letters and characters and numbers (i.e. Ct. 9) or three to four letters (i.e. BAND or LIB). When merged, only the three digit number transfers to the new document in Word, not the combinations. In excel, I've tried to format the cell as "general" and "custom" or "text" and it doesn't change. What's the problem?
