Click the right mouse button in a webpage and look for Block Content on the menu. There's a text based control file storing all these settings and you can pick up a pre-defined one on the user forums if you don't feel like defining it yourself.Long before Speed Dial came out, I grouped related bookmarks into a folder & put the folder on the Personal Bar (checked its "Show on Personal Bar"). Then I pick "Open All Folder Items" when I click on it to launch all its bookmarks in tabs at once. I have a folder for Daily, Weekly, and Monthly sites. Keeps my Sessions list clean for non permanent tabs.Another way to open with a given set of URLs is to pass them on the command line. If you launch Opera.exe without any cmdline options, it will treat each argument passed as an URL to be opened in another tab. You can create a shortcut or batch file like:"C:\Program Files\Opera\Opera.exe" "http://a.com" "http://b.com" "http://c.com"which will launch Opera if its not already up and open 3 tabs in it against the website a.com b.com and c.comYou can also copy the folders Opera runs its profile file out of to a new location to create a second separate instance of the browser. I use this trick in Windows to keep copies on other drives that are dedicated to email or a related set of RSS feeds. Unless you are telling Opera to run a profile it created under another user account (for which you'll need file access rights to), you will have to edit the copied opera6.ini file to change the path on about six or seven entries. Then you create a shortcut using the /settings command line option to tell Opera to use this new profile like:"C:\Program Files\Opera\Opera.exe" /settings "D:\Opera\OperaRSS\profile\opera6.ini"You still only have one Opera exe installed for upgrade purposes but the 2nd profile carries its own independent set of control data (sessions, bookmarks, cache, etc) and can be run at the same time as your primary invocation. In fact I recommend customizing the title via opera:config#UserPrefs|Title so you can tell which instance is which. While you can move tabs between windows of a given profile instance, you can't move them to windows belonging to another profile instance. I started doing this back when Opera 8's mail engine didn't like me having over 100,000 RSS items in one instance.

Adblock is built into Opera. On Opera 10 if you go to Preferences (shortcut: CTRL+F12), when you see the homepage options, on top of the homepage address you can choose a startup option. There are things like "Start with homepage" and "Continue from last session". What you want to choose is "Start with Speed Dial". =D

Just adding on to what Alex said. You can create a shortcut that takes you to SD. Edit shortcuts in preferences and add a new one. The action you want is called "Show speed dial". I think it's faster than closing a tab and opening a new one just to display SD.

Nice article!

Just a comment on the Speed Dial Homepage Button.
