I was going to include that in the list actually, but I wasn't sure what the service was going to be like once it left the beta stage. And coincidentally it was released today, and if you don't pay for the service you're quite limited in how much data you can store.

Gourmet Recipe Manager is a great app for both Linux and Windows. I've been using it for a long time.

Huh… it didn’t cross my mind to look for a Linux alternative. KRecipes looks pretty nice, but it’s too bad that it hasn’t been updated in two years.

Yeah, real shame. It looks like the RPM folks have created a KDE 4 port (kde4-krecipes), but I'm running Kubuntu, so I can't tell.

It’s nice that this Recipe Center also has a unit conversion tool, because that’s also always something hard to get by!

If I recall correctly both applications will also let you specify auto-complete words of your own. So you could go through and add frequently used ingredients in your own language so that they will be auto completed.

I’ve tried several recipe applications but I find the main problem is the tediousness of importing all your existing recipes into it. As for recipes from the web, I’d love an application that would allow you to keep the pictures and formatting intact when you save a recipe from a website. Sort of like a recipe “clipper”.

I couldn't agree with you more, but I would say that Yum for Mac does a fantastic job of simplifying the copy/paste process.

Recipes are still being kept the oldfashioned way here: on paper. I even print out recipes from the internet

But I've been looking around for a while now for a good recipe manager, so thanks for this article! I'm sure going to try out this Recipe Center!

What makes it more difficult to find something good though is that all my recipes are in Dutch. And even though my English is OK, I like recipes in Dutch, as it's sometimes hard to find the translation of an ingredient, or ingredients are being used that we don't use here.
