I use and recommend SQLyog from [webyog.com] (a quote from first page: Power Tools for Scheduled Data Sync, Schema Sync, Scheduled Backups, Notification Services, Job Manager, etc)

It’s easy to make backups and in general to work with MySQL Databases. There is a free version also, and it is a good one (with a nag screen).

Ryan You may also want to have your readers also look at the MySQL Administrator - http://www.mysql.com/products/tools/administrator/index.html. This is a graphic tool that has the ability to create and schedule backups, along with a whole host of other capabilities. It's a very useful tool. DavidC
