I remain convinced that only a wide spectrum of interests nourishes a human being's mind and soul, and that specialization is more a modern world's requirement for efficiency than for me, and you. 2- Steve Jobs, "You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future…". That interacts with Bill Gates's above mentioned comment, but with the nuance of dealing excitation and preferences with self-accomplishment.
