great work, i'd just like to share my little finding you have put yoono in just about every other category with the same comment, i guess it's a typo and that yoono does different things relevent to each of the categories. None the less if it is everywhere maybe it should also appear in the overall section.

I think getting rid of the dupes would make it even more interesting. Yes, sometimes the extension fits into more than one category, but after going through this list, it seems, that there are about 15 extensions altogether, given out in several top10 lists - too much overlapping. :)

Thanks for posting anyway. I'll give a try to a couple of extensions that I haven't tried before.

I think they should give some sort of moderation option to the users, where they can say it doesn't belong in a certain category. Or only let publishers pick on category for their plugin.

I think extension developers can pick whatever categories their extensions should appear in, and so some of them go the route of putting them into categories that they don't even really apply. Looks like that's what happened with the Web Development category.

 5. Fasterfox - Performance and network enhancements for Firefox. ”
Huh?! I wonder why these extensions are so high up the list in THIS category. Firebug and Web Developer Toolbar should be #1 and #2!

Agreed! Not to mention the others don't really even fit in that category at all. In fact I'd go as far as to say that Firebug is the #1 web developer tool ever, although I never really tried Aptana.

I'm not sure if some people are reading the article to determine how I came up with these lists. I did not rank each one of these extensions myself. Instead I went to the Mozilla add-ons site and sorted the extensions by popularity for each of the categories.

So if you're wondering why one of your favorite extensions aren't mentioned it's not my fault. It's the fault of millions of Firefox users who have apparently not installed it enough to make it rank within the top 10. Hope that clears some things up.

How can you _not_ mention any sort of mouse gesture plug-in??? All-in-one gestures is my preference. Aside from Ad-block, it's my second most important plug-in overall.
