As Ashley said, I highly recomend the new freeware application Post2Blog. It has the inline spellcheck among other features, and the ability to create a portable version so that you can carry it with you where ever you go. From what I have seen it is the most powerful blog editor for Windows.

Dean, what you're doing sounds like what I did when I initially started blogging. I liked the inline spell-checking with Word so I did exactly what you're doing with the cutting and pasting.

Here are a couple of free alternatives that I can recommend:
1. Windows Live Writer - It's a Microsoft product obviously, but it's free. I tried it out for several months and really didn't have any complaints. In fact, I liked it a lot and wouldn't have any problems going back to it.
2. Post2Blog: Ryan just wrote about this one today. It's a great program that just turned to Freeware! Prior it was $39. I haven't tried it yet but he's using it right now and loves it.

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks for the tip. This is an area I've been experimenting with recently. I've been looking to move away from composing my blog posts inside Wordpress. I like the idea of writing my posts offline initially to upload later. It can sometimes be quicker and more convenient that way.

Recently I've been using OpenOffice to write drafts of my blog posts. Then when I'm done I cut/paste the document into a new Wordpress blog post.

Obviously this is not as slick as what you describe. Now if we can get an OpenOffice equivalent then I would be very happy :P
