That’s really weird. I assume that you’re running Windows XP but there must be a conflict with a startup application that you have installed.

I tried this three times and there was always an error of some sort.

Each time a different application would crash. The first time it was PerfVis, the next something crashed while “defragmenting….BootVis”. The third time nothing really happened. The BootVis program never stared after the system rebooted.

Hoping that the actual analysis had completed I tried the “Trace->optimize system”. I didn’t see an difference when the system rebooted.

In the end I’m just happy that it didn’t brick my system.

But be sure you have SP2 if you’re running XP.
