There’s typically not a whole lot going on over at as far as news goes, however, yesterday they announced a new ‘Tagometer‘ that you’ll be able to place on your site.  They call it their new version of the ‘ usual social bookmarking button,’ and below are two different pictures of what the Tagometer looks like.  If you’re a blogger, you may find this to be a nice addition to your website.

So what is it and how does it work? First, there’s the ‘bookmark this on’ button so that reader’s can easily bookmark a page that they’ve come across that they want saved.  Using a JSON data feed, the Tagometer now gives an up-t0-date count of others who have already bookmarked the page. The example above shows that the page was saved by 6,364 other people. The Tagometer also includes the tags that people have assigned to the page. When users click on the count, they’ll be able to see who else has bookmarked the same page.

Adding the Tagometer Badge to your site is easy.  They provide sample code for either the tall badge, or the one line badge. All you have to do is copy and paste! It doesn’t get any simpler than that. If you do not allow JavaScript, the badges won’t work. Example code is found here.
