They normally still offer the 90-day warranty but it can always be upgraded for some ungodly amount. Of course when I bought my computer and 24" monitor (got both for $1100) I just grabbed the 90-day warranty because I didn't want to fork out $450 for the extended 4-year warranty. Then, a month or so later they sent me a letter in the mail offering the warranty for $120 for four years. Since I was worried about my monitor possibly being burnt out by that time I jumped on the offer. So if anyone buys a PC I would highly recommend that you wait a little while to purchase the extended warranty...because it can be done at a later date for normally a lot less than what you were originally quoted.

My beef with Dell is simple; their pathetic 90 day warranty starts when you order your PC, not when you receive it. It took three weeks to get my PC. Almost three months later the speakers stopped working. Did Dell take care of it. Nope, out of warranty by about a week.

That was the first and only Dell that I'll will ever buy.

Have they increased their warranty terms in the past year?

I agree...Dell is actually a nice company in my opinion. The thing people always give them a hard time about is the quality of their customer service and I don't really have any experience with that. I think Dell is able to offer their computers so cheap (especially when you find coupons) because of all the software that gets bundled by external companies who pay to have it put on new PC's. That's why it is always worth getting the operating system disk and doing a fresh install when you purchase a new computer from them (getting the disk is supposed to cost $10, but I got it for free with these instrustions).
