Firefox 1.x Theme Almost everyone loves the new Firefox 2 theme but there will always be a few people here and there, like Paul Thurrott, that don’t like the new look. I’ve mentioned this before but with the Firefox 2 release I figured it would be a good time to remind everyone that the classic Firefox 1.x theme is available. It is not provided by Mozilla directly but it gives Firefox the 1.x look and feel that some people may prefer.

On a little bit of a side note I thought I would also let everyone know that I have already made the switch over to the Firefox 3 trunk (codename Gran Paradiso). My initial plan was to spend at least a few weeks enjoying the blessing of a stable Firefox release but that just doesn’t seem quite as exciting. As new features are implemented into Firefox 3 I will be sure to let everyone know!

As for me, I am a web-designer, and I have all those browsers on my single PC:

    Firefox 2
Portable Firefox 3 alpha (PORTABLE = best solution)
    Opera 9.1 beta
    IE 7.0 Final
    IE 6.0 Standalone
    IE 5.5 Standalone
    IE 5.0 Standalone
    IE 4.0 Standalone
IE 3.0 Standalone (just for fun)
Swift 0.1 (Safari ported to Win32)
    Netscape 0.94 (just for fun)

Now I’m planing to add some PORTABLE browsers:
    Firefox 1.0, Firefox 1.5, Opera 6, Opera 7, Opera 8.

NOTE: Anybody can get different standalone IE versions fro this great website: [browsers.evolt.org]

    Funny, isn’t it? :)

Thought it’s called [mozilla.org] Anyway, when installing PORTABLE nightly, will it update automatically from UMO?

Thanks for the tip, I’ve added this to my blog. I’ve noticed a lot people coming to my blog are using the search term ‘Firefox Theme’. I like how you too mentioned about Paul Thurrott dislike of the new theme.

I used to use this theme back when the FFX2 theme was really terrible, but now I just use the default theme, especially because of the bugs in the classic one. The new default theme is much better, though the buttons could be darker. By the way, where do you get Portable FFX3?

No one has put together a portable version of Firefox 3 at this point. You can [ftp.mozilla.org] yourself and use [tech.cybernetnews.com] as a guide to putting together your own version. The instructions are a little out-dated but should help.
