[...] Shortly after the release if IE7, Mozilla has released the final version of Firefox 2.0 today. While not officially released on Mozilla’s website the 2.0 final build is uploaded to their FTP server. It’s scheduled to be “officially” released on Tuesday; technically today as I am posting this at 3:40 AM. Thanks to CyberNetNews for the code to download it using their load balancing system. The final build doesn’t appear to be any different than RC3, however it has a much nicer feel than the 1.5x series. [...]

Thanks, I went ahead and removed the link to the FTP but the downloader that I put together doesn't use links to the FTP so that should be okay.

Nate The Great wrote:
I love how they let people download it off the ftp before they even release it :)

I heard various Mozilla people saying they are considering restricting access to the ftp when they first get releases up b/c it is being abused (directly linked to) by so many.

About extensions: I have seen authors updating their extensions very rapidly in the last few months and haven't found an extension I like that doesn't already work with ff 2.

RC3 and 2.0 final are same so do not download the 2.0 final so as to help minimize load on mirrors as sites are linking directly to the ftp://ftp.moz..... one and pound that when it should be http://ftp.mozilla.org if one must link to the mirrors.

It looks like Firefox 2.0 FINAL is identical to Firefox RC3, only files' timestamps are different.
Anyway, I can't wail till tomorrow, to see how the Firefox 2.0 advertising campaign will begin... :D
Firefox 2.0 to conquer the web!!!
