[...] It was of today that I saw this article which is of the topic of Freespire Beta 2. For those not in the know, until soon ago myself included, a reading of their website I do recommend. For it do such a thing you do, this will be of a quick notice: “Freespire is a community-driven, Linux-based operating system that combines the best that free, open source software has to offer (community driven, freely distributed, open source code, etc.), but also provides users the choice of including proprietary codecs, drivers and applications as they see fit. With Freespire, the choice is yours as to what software is installed on your computer, with no limitations or restrictions placed on that choice. How you choose to maximize the performance of your computer is entirely up to you.” Used it I have not, but impressed I do think I am after being a viewer of only screenshots and capability descriptions.
Unfortunately I don't know of any free apps for partitioning because I paid for Acronis Disk Director a little while back. It works great but it also costed $50! Hopefully someone else will know of some good free software for this.

Just like the above commenter had mentioned it is possible to dual boot the two Operating systems but you should setup a partition first.

For all of these "test" Operating Systems that I use I have a spare 160GB hard drive in my desktop computer which I have partitioned. I then install multiple OS's such as Vista, Freespire, etc... and find that they all play nicely together.

Yes it is possible to dual boot between Freespire and XP. It will not destroy your XP installation.

For a first time linux user it is quite possibly the easiest to use linux distro and you have nothing to lose from trying it out.

Hey Ryan, I have been looking and I am interested in running Linux on my computer. I want to be able to keep my current WinXP configuration.

Is it possible to run Freespire with my WinXP?

How's the install process? I tried Ubuntu and it didn't install for some reason.

Any info you can give me on Linux and freespire would be great!
