I can’t say that I’m surprised with the outcome but it is pretty disappointing. I would expect Microsoft’s antivirus solution to be among the best. Looks like that’s not the case at all.

I reviewed OneCare today, based on testing it over several days. My verdict: try it only on a computer you don’t really care about.

I ended up switching back to Avast! for that exact reason. When the survey popped up for uninstalling it one of the options said something about not having enough advanced options. Apparently they must already realize this.

Yeah I broke down too and installed it. I like how it looks and some of the things it does… but truth be told – it is NOT a customizable software program and I hate that. Also I doubt its true capability to protect from viruses. I’ll probably use it for a while and then change back to Avast!

I too am hesitant to use this. besides, I use free antivirus software (currently Avast). I do use the Windows Defender beta. However, if they start charging for it, then I will move to something free.

I used onecare when it was in beta – (for XP). Then uninstalled it as it slowed down my comp to a great extent.

Later I purchased the full version assuming the performance issue to have been rectified. Again the comp slowed down. Have put onecare on the AOL camp (will never ever install again!!!)

Okay, I broke down. You have 180 days to activate it which comes out to 6 months (for those that don’t feel like doing the math). It seems OK but it isn’t very customizable.

Haha, me too I hated it before because I got a virus on Win XP Pro and it didn’t help me at all. But I’m such a software freak that I can’t resist. As I’m sure you are too!

Hmmm, I can’t find that information anywhere. It would have to be at least 90 days because that is what the normal trial period is. I am really close to installing it…it’s on my desktop right now.
