Recently EA found themselves in a position where they could admit that there was a glitch in a game, or turn it into an amazing marketing experience. They chose the latter of the two, and it has worked out quite well for them.
You see, someone recently noticed that there’s a “glitch” in the Tiger Woods 08′ golf title where Tiger Woods plays a shot while standing on the water. The gamer took video of it and it has been seen all over the Internet. People have called it the “Jesus Shot” with Tiger “walking on water.” Instead of just acknowledging that they made a mistake, EA has decided to answer back to the poster of the video with a brilliant video of their own.
Tiger really can walk on water! It’s not a glitch afterall…
Now how’s that for using YouTube to your advantage. What a great example of a viral marketing video!

That is smart marketing if you ask me.
I’m still in awe that they actually got Tiger Woods to make the video just for this.
I am sure that they paid him for that.
It was awesome and definitely worth the money. What a great piece of marketing and a great example of how to use the same technology to turn it around back on the guy!
Oh I’m sure he got paid good money to make the video… I wonder how much?
Brilliant
Finally, some marketing genius! Give them a round of applause.
Think of all the extra buzz they got by making this video. I didn’t even know this game existed…
wasn’t it?!
Agreed!
Me neither, although I should have known such a game would exist with how big Tiger Woods is.
