Firefox 1.5.0.7 has been released.

There have been some bumps in the road for the release of Firefox 1.5.0.7 but it is expected to ship tomorrow. Up until today they have provided 6 release candidate builds for version 1.5.0.7 which hopefully means they got everything worked out. Despite the release date being pushed back a few times it has only slipped one-week from their original expectation.
Flock has also stated that they will be updating to version 0.7.5 tomorrow if Mozilla is able to get that release out. If everything goes smoothly in that version of Flock they will go ahead and enable the automatic update for current users on Friday.
On a similar note I am sure you have seen the updates I’ve posted about the Firefox 2 theme. Mozilla has been trying to get everything put together over the last few days because the code lockdown is scheduled for today. At that time they will be preparing for the release of Firefox 2 RC1 which is supposed to ship on September 19. Let’s cross our fingers and hope Mozilla keeps it on time.

I question why people would be too bothered about 1.5.7 – seeing as Firefox 2 is in a totally stable Beta 2 state and 1.5.6 is a perfectly handy browser if the number 2 scares you. They should just pull everyone off of 1.5 and get them working on 2 to make sure there are no more slippages.
I’ve been using Firefox 2.0 Beta 2 now for while. Actually I am using the nightlies right now to try out the new theme. In my opinion what people are scared of is their extensions not working in Firefox 2. While many have been updated there are still many that have not. The simple solution is the [users.blueprintit.co.uk]~dave/web/firefox/nightly/index.html extension to force the extensions to work in FF 2.0
Inferno, One of the things Mozilla really strives for is quality. People are still using 1.5 and may not update to 2.0 for months. So it would be logical for them to keep supporting 1.5 till 2.0 “officially” comes out.
Great point.
And besides I thinking that FF 2.0 is being worked on by it’s own development team, which are not the same folks working on 1.5
I’ve been using the portable FF 2 beta 2 for a few days now, and I think its great. For a beta that is
I too used the Nightly Tester Tools so that I can get my favorite extensions to work.
Heck, there are still people that use 1.0.* because they don’t want the “bloated” software.
It is good that browser updates often – Mozilla really thinks about security and that is the reason why more and more people start using Firefox instead of IE.
do you have myspace????
xx
No, I don’t have a MySpace account. I would probably spend too much time on it and then I wouldn’t have any time to spend here.
With 1.5.0.7rc6, it seems that my extension ILO (imagelikeopera) is broken. Something has changed ? It should work: it doesn’t work anymore. With 1.5.06, it was fine…
There is a problem with FF2 on my Dual core Amd with Windows 2000. Frequently FF2 will start but it does not open. I must go to the task manager and end the task and then restart FF2.( Running FF2 on my work machine: Pentium IV and Win2k I have no problems at all.) FF 1.5 in any version has never shown this bug. I hope this gets fixed before the final release.
Ironic, I use to have that issue with Firefox 1.5, but not with 2.0
