Firefox 2.0 Alpha 3 has just been released as I suspected that it would, here is what is new in this build:
There is a lot in Bon Echo Alpha 3 that we need you to play with and give us feedback on:
- Built in Anti-Phishing protection.
- Search suggestions now appear with search history in the search box for Google and Yahoo!
- Support for client-side session and persistent storage.
And please continue to test out these other features which are new from previous Bon Echo releases:
- Changes to tabbed browsing behavior
- Search plugin manager for removing and re-ordering search engines
- Better support for previewing and subscribing to web feeds
- New microsummaries feature for bookmarks
- Inline spell checking in text boxes
- Automatic restoration of your browsing session if there is a crash
- New combined and improved Add-Ons manager for extensions and themes
- Extended search plugin format
- Updates to the extension system to provide enhanced security and to allow for easier localization of extensions
- Support for SVG text using svg:textPath
This is a pretty big release. The only other new thing that we will see will be in Beta 1 when it is released in June, it will have the new theme. I’ll let everyone know if I see the new theme in a nightly build before Beta 1 is released.
All you have to do is download the Portable Firefox 2.0 Alpha 3 file below. Then you unzip the file and browse for the file PortableFirefox.exe. Just execute that file and you will be running Firefox 2.0 Alpha 3! The profile is kept with the PortableFirefox folder so you don’t have to worry about messing up your other profile and the uninstallation process is simple…just delete the folder!

Ryan,
Could you please change your links to the official builds to use our load balancing system (links in the devnews posting [developer.mozilla.org]) instead?
Increasing load on the head mirrors will only slow propagation to the rest of the mirror system and quite possibly cause other undesirable issues.
rflint,
I have changed the links. Sorry about that but I didn’t visit the news center, I only saw the release in the FTP.

Great! Thanks
I don’t see any Search suggestion, what should I do?
You don’t see the Search Suggestion when you start typing a search in the box? I don’t know why it wouldn’t be working.

InEst-d,
If you don’t see the search suggestions, you may have ‘Save information I enter in forms and the Search bar’ disabled
Personally, I think they should be separate options as I don’t necessarily want to keep my search terms but would like the search suggestions feature enabled.
Thanks a lot for making a portable version Ryan.
Dave, this is enable. Is there any idea?
I have another question, these suggestions must show in the search box in google.com and yahoo.com or in the upper textbox which locate in the right side of Bon Echo?
Thanks Dave and Ryan.
Dave,
I did notice as well if you disable ‘Save information I enter in forms and the Search bar’ that the search bar will not suggest text. I agree that it should be a separate feature.
Max,
Your welcome, enjoy it!
InEst-d,
I don’t have any idea why it wouldn’t be working for you. Maybe Dave will have some other suggestions.

Ryan, a bit off-topic here, but is there a Portable version of FF1.5.0.3? I can only find 1.5.0.2 at your website.
Thanks for the info… will try it right away!
