Firefox Changes The Way We Use RSS Feeds

While testing the latest Firefox build I noticed a new feature that can be found in the Options. This new feature allows users to choose how they want Firefox to handle Feed Subscriptions. You can have Firefox add the feed to an external application, Bloglines, Google Reader, My Yahoo, or leave it as the standard Live Bookmarks.

It also displays the feed in a normal way when viewing the feed directly in the web browser, instead of showing the garbled XML code for the feed. You can see it in action with the screenshot above.

I am currently a Google Reader user and I am now in love with this feature. It makes it so easy to subscribe to new feeds and have them added to my Google Reader.

This feature is currently only in the nightly build of Firefox but will hopefully be available when they release Alpha 2 shortly. Keep your eyes peeled because features are rolling in now!
