Free encrypted vpn

I’ve tried out several free VPN services in the past and generally they are difficult to use or are extremely slow. When I tried out SecurityKISS I was pleasantly surprised at how it surpassed both of those hurdles. I was able to download the software, install it, and get connected to a VPN in under a minute. You don’t even have to register with the service to get connected, which is a nice touch.

I happened to be fortunate enough to have one of their VPN servers located pretty close to where I live (in the same state), and as a result during my benchmarks I averaged around 17Mbps which is close to what my non-VPN connection receives. There are some limitations to the free version of the service though, such as 300MB/day of bandwidth. You can pick between using a server in the United Kingdom or the United States, but it should be noted that the free version excludes support for streaming services like Spotify. I’m sure that takes away some of the usefulness for those of you outside the U.K./U.S. looking to use this solely for streaming music.

If you need a quick way to encrypt your web traffic I highly recommend SecurityKISS. If you read through their privacy section you’ll notice that they do record your IP address so it’s not 100% anonymous, but they need to track your IP since they don’t require registration.
