One of the most sought after features of Google Talk is the ability to share files with your friends. Now it is possible with the help of Google Desktop Search (GDS). The ShareIt plug-in for GDS allows users to transfer files between your Google Talk friends. It shows you information like your transferring speed and the percent completed.
So what is the downside to this plug-in? The people you are transferring files with must also have the plug-in installed. While there are many people that use Google Desktop it might be difficult to get all of your friends using it and getting them to install this plug-in. I would surely think that Google is working on a real solution to let people transfer files using Google Talk.
