It wasn’t too long ago that Hulu launched into their private beta – October 28th to be exact. Hulu is a joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corp (Fox) which provides premium video content on demand. The only way you can try Hulu is by getting an invitation, and those invitations haven’t been available in abundance… until today!
What a Hulu invitation? Here’s how to get one. Hulu has set-up invitation sites for a few sites like TechCrunch, GigaOm, Mashable, and Read/Write Web. It looks like they all started out with about 2500 invitations and there are still plenty left to go around. So, pick a link… any link… and get your invite for Hulu!

- Hulu invitation thanks to Read/Write Web
Once you click on one of those links, you’ll be taken to a Hulu page where you’ll submit your email address. After you do that, you’ll be receiving an invite in the mail shortly and then you’ll be on your way to watching shows like Prison Break, House, Bones, Heroes, Scrubs, 24, and more. Just remember that this is a service available only in the United States.

Hopefully this will be better than Joost.
@Ashley:
Do you know why many services are available only in the United States? Wouldn’t they be more popular if they open their services to the whole Web regardless of countries?

Omar.-
So I just watched one episode. Aaand, Hulu is kinda like a legal tv-links.co.uk? And apparently, I can’t watch CBS videos. Hrm. But it is better than Joost.
I think the main reason for this service to be U.S. only is that the shows available on the site are not broadcasted around the world. What may be suitable for viewing in one country could be frowned upon in another, so there are probably legal reasons behind this.
CBS shows aren’t going to be on it because Hulu is put together by NBC and Fox.
I think it is US only. I got an account, but in EU doesn’t permit viewing…
I like Hulu. They are plenty of shows to watch and the picture quality is good enough.
Exactly US only. Tough Luck. For u and me.
I believe it definitely is. The first reason is better content and the second is NO download necessary. Just sign up free and start watching, legally. It’s just like watching it on tv-links.co.uk (which got killed) except better quality, faster buffering, no japanese subs, not to mention it’s perfectly legal.
I got my invite a few weeks ago the old fashioned way, signed up at the main site.
News “Crop” ?
The content is the most unbelievable thing for me. They actually have GOOD shows on there, and I’ve already used HULU more in the last week than I’ve used Joost all this year.
Not once have I even tried Joost. I just couldn’t justify installing the software. W/ Hulu I could just try streaming an episode entirely w/in the browser no worries or chance for regret.
