Yes, that is right, the Windows that is in the far far future could be named Vienna now. The previous name was Blackcomb until Robert Scoble, a ‘reporter’ for Microsoft, stated that the name is being changed to Vienna. If this is true then I think Microsoft has lost their mind. Names like Whistler, Longhorn, and Blackcomb were all cool, but Vienna? Who are we, Oscar Meyer?

  1. I read in maxium pc that Vienna was named as such because it’s “a city with a great vista”
But still it’s no excuce for the weird names.

  2. Stupid move by Microsoft. Vienna would have been a good name for the next release.

  3. I don’t think Vienna would have been a good name for the release because it would remind people too much of the hot dog. I think they should hold a naming contest and whoever comes up with the best name gets a free computer or something.

Sorry dude but when I think Vienna I think Italy, not hot dogs.

  5. Fx Extension needs a geography lesson – venice and vienna are not the same. vienna is in Austria

  6. Ha, I was thinking Italy as well though. I never was good at geography.

:? Oh crap! Still I was thinking of it as a city not as brand of hot dogs. At least I had the right continent. :)

Good call. Of course the legal department would have to approve any name first. We are a litigious society after all.
