GPS is one of the most important things for me as well. I'm still in awe that Apple didn't put a GPS in the iPhone.

Unless Apple really steps up their iPhone, this could kill it.

I am just hoping that devices/phones developed using this platform incorporate a GPS chip in them. That way you could have apps do all kinds of things for a wide range of people. They would also have to have decent battery life with a swappable battery.

This will be interesting to watch how it moves along.

I think they're super smart for incorporating a contest into the whole thing. Because the development of the apps will be left up to third-party developers, a little money for motivation can go a long ways!

After seeing the browser and image viewer implemented on the touch screen phone that was my impression as well. The bonus of it being an open platform should really encourage developers to create applications for it.

Google has a lot riding on people coming up with apps so it was a great move to open a contest.
