I'm not sugesting that they only store it with Google - some FF users probably use Yahoo because they like adverts or something. What would be good is if I could use the bookmarks manager to sort out my bookmarks - as good as Google's thing is, a web page will never have the functionality of part of a browser until they stick a load of AJAX stuff in it.

Just some easy synchronization would be useful.

Incidentally I know there is Browser Sync, but if you're on IE, or a PC that isn't yours you don't want to have to install and log in to browser sync just to get bookmarks - hence the joy of Google.

Yeah, I don't think Mozilla can go much further with the bookmarks without making some people mad. There is already the Google Sync extension which will let you synchronize your Firefox bookmarks across multiple computers. Then there are also extensions that allow you access to your Google Bookmarks, like the one mentioned here, and for other services as well such as Del.icio.us.

If they changed the way the bookmarks were stored, i.e. putting them online instead of on your computer, then some people would probably not be to happy about that. Even though that does appear to be the way other browsers like Maxthon and Avant Browser are heading.

I've been using this one for some time and I echo your comments as to how useful this is. It would be nice if Mozilla's partnership with Google went further, and they added the option for standard FF bookmarks to be Google bookmarks <em>but</em> still allowed you to use the standard FF bookmark manager.

Then again, what one could do is use the Firefox bookmarks to get their pages, then use the 'Import' option in this extension whenever they've finished fettling.
