Google Is Experimenting With A New Homepage

It looks like Google is testing a new homepage that will shift some links around and that is about it. There is no official word on if this new homepage was just a Photoshop job or if it is real, but I would say that it looks reasonable enough to be real.

However, I am not sure if I like it very much. Moving the navigation bar to the left side makes the screen look more cluttered in my opinion. I don’t think that this one will make it out of testing.

  1. In my opinion, that looks very ugly. Google has a simple homepage that everyone recognizes. Don’t fix what’s not broken.

  2. I know Google is bent on classic style, I don’t mind it much but we’re in the era of eye-candy for both websites and operation systemss. I believe they could keep their website very simple and clean while not looking like a website from the 90′s.

I want to see a re-imaginating of Google design and given the option to roll back to the original if needed.

Things that don’t evolve don’t need to be broken, they just are taken over by alternatives that evolved and they become extinct. It will not be the case of Google but I like change! Thats all :p

  3. I think you’re right PhoenixP3K, it would be nice if Google came out with some snazzy page or maybe some skins for the Personalized Homepage.

They should always offer the option to roll back to the old style because just like with Windows not everyone likes all that eye candy. Just because some people don’t like the eye candy doesn’t stop Microsoft from making more graphic intensive version of Windows though.
