Google Maps/Earth Gets Another Imagery Update

September 9th, 2006

Google Maps Low Resolution Reports are flowing in saying that Google has updated several different areas with high-resolution images. This recent update can now be found in Google Earth and Google Maps. Here are some of the areas people have found updates in:

  • United States: NH, CT, NC, GA, NY, FL, MT, Coastline of Maine
  • Netherlands
  • Belgium
  • Japan
  • Norway
  • New Zealand
  • Canada

It is fun to see your house in a high-resolution image and this will probably put those people out of business that fly around neighborhoods in a helicopter snapping photos of your home. Then they go door-to-door trying to sell them to you for insane prices. I don’t think Google’s quality is good enough to compete with them yet but they are definitely trying.
