In Microsoft Compatibility Administrator 5.6, there is a direct instal button where you save the database. So no need of cmd to instal the sdb file..

Now how do I uninstall the fix? Because now all the other apps the main app has to start do not start with the correct permissions and thus rendering the app unusable.

Yea, the programs does not, but now the UAC shortcut asks everytime. Not bright software if you ask me.

LOL, this is bad. I mean you make many STEPS to accomplish
what you can accomplish in just a few mouse clicks (if not
faster). AFAIK, a better solution exists on Internet.

Disabling the UAC isn’t an option in a highly regulated, corporate environment with 14,000 users who all want to install the latest crap they find on the internet. Our users aren’t admins for a reason…
If this process works it will be a welcome addition to our Windows 7 Certification and Deployment strategy.

This method makes the process run without elevation, such that operations requiring elevation fail. For example, Visual Studio wants to be elevated and by default will complain if it is not. I turned on “Run this program as an administrator” in devenv.exe’s Compatibility tab and applied these steps. Result: spawned programs (like cmd.exe) fail to spawn. Process Monitor shows that the exit code indicates that they require elevation, meaning Visual Studio is running without elevated privileges.

That is one way of doing things, but personally I like seeing the elevation prompts because it assures me that viruses and such would not be able to do anything malicious without me first seeing a prompt.

That is until the virus coders figure out a way around it.

That is one way of doing things, but personally I like seeing the elevation prompts because it assures me that viruses and such would not be able to do anything malicious without me first seeing a prompt.

Me, I just install TweakVista (free from Stardock), go to Security, and check “Medium-low securiy” – remove all prompts for elevation.

That’s it.. And I can kiss the UAC prompt goodbye.. for good.
