It has almost been a week and it looks like the sales of PS3’s and Wii’s have dwindled down a bit on eBay. I have seen some of the Playstation 3’s go for as low as $850 which is just a few hundred above the actual cost of the system. That’s not that bad considering the fact that the “real” sales on eBay were previously going for around $3000. The Nintendo Wii is also extremely reasonable and will only run you around $400 on eBay.
Looking through the auctions will reveal some amazingly clever schemes to try and get people to buy from them. One of the most common things is having a girl pose with the system. Some of them even appear to be topless (even though nothing is visible) in hopes of getting a little boost in sales. This auction, for example, says that the girl will hand deliver the Playstation 3 to the winner if the sale got above $19,000…but the auction has already ended and it didn’t even get a bid at the ridiculous $10,000 starting price.
When I sorted the listings according to price this was one of the first ones to come up. That is because the starting price is $1 million but they are kindly accepting and promptly declining offers. What’s so special about this auction? With the current 72 offers and more than 10,000 views this is what they are offering:
YOU ARE BIDDING ON FOUR BRAND NEW PLAYSTATION 3 (60GB) PLUS FOUR NEW NINTENDO WIIs!!!! YOU ALSO GET 1 OF EVERY GAME YOU WANT FROM OUR HUGE LISTS BELOW!!! These will all be PERSONALLY hand delivered to 4 addresses of your choice!!!… I WILL LITERALLY FLY/DRIVE TO THE ADDRESSES YOU GIVE ME DRESSED UP LIKE SANTA!
The auction is actually a little misleading because it says you get 1 of every game that is listed…but looking at the pictures makes me think you get 1 of every game for every system! It is absolutely crazy what some people come up with and are able to get their hands on.

Dude, seriously what the heck is wrong with our world, that people would pay $10,000.00 just for a gaming console, to have it a couple of weeks before it releases to stores. People are just stupid, cause you know the only ones making money on this deal are eBay and PayPal, after all those fees that they collect for doing nothing…. What ever happened to card games, what happened to when kids could entertain themselves without a television or electronics, playing outside~
grr your commenting system isn’t working again
I know, it is absolutely insane how bad some people want the system and what lengths they will go to in order to get them. What happened to card games? Simple…Solitaire on Windows showed people that they can play games with much less physical movement.
The commenting system is working it is just that your comments were getting filtered as spam. It frequently does that when a user doesn’t enter a name into the name field. One of the new features that we just introduced with the redesign is a notification system for registered users so that they will know when one of their comments get filtered. I don’t want to push you to register or anything but it will help out if you are having that problem.
Yeah it pretends to post the comment, but then when I refresh it’s not there… if should tell you your comment has been detected as spam and not posted, instead of just pretending, so us who leave valid comments aren’t like What’s going on… I though the Math was the spam protection, and I’m pretty good at math
Glad I sold my Wii for $650 while I had the chance
Society is to blame. In this day and age of our modern, technology-driven world, thinking is optional.
Can someone let me out here please?
That’s nothing. Kotaku linked an auction which went for $1,000 for a PICTURE of a PS3. The auction clearly stated at the end of about 3 pages of PS3 specifications that what was up for auction was a picture of the system. Still went for over a grand. Don’t know if it actually was completed, however.
They say “A picture is worth a thousand words”, apparently this one was worth a thousand dollars!
Don’t know how you thought about saying that but it surely gave me a laugh.
